Mark Wilkinson is a Canadian performing artist who defies labels in his pursuit of artistic projects of unique proportions. At once a classically trained actor and singer, he has navigated the largest stages and concert halls and the most intimate venues and black box theatres, performing drama, opera, comedy, musical theatre, jazz, pop, folk, country, and more. His eclectic career expresses a rare versatility of artistry founded in a gift for truthful storytelling in such a vast array of repertoire.
Known as a consummate collaborator, he has journeyed through traditional music and drama, choral repertoire, intimate stage work, cabaret, recital, and premiere works. This has taken him around the world and been broadcast on CBC Music and Television. He owes a fond debt of gratitude to all of his colleagues from whom he has learned so much over the years, thanks to their generous artistry and natural guidance.
Favourite collaborations include those with Margaret Atwood at the Ottawa Writers Festival, Peter Schickele (PDQ Bach) at the Music and Beyond Festival, pianist Audrey Andrist in his Washington, D.C. recital début, Paul Halley and the King's College Chapel Choir, R. Murray Schafer and the Governor General of Canada's Performing Arts Awards, Brian Asawa and Jolaine Kerley at the Early Music Festival of Alberta, pianist Christina LeRose for recitals throughout Austria, Stephen Ralls and Bruce Ubukata for The Aldeburgh Connection, Maria Guinand and Soundstreams Canada, Valerie Dueck and Daniel Mehdizadeh at the East Chamber Music Festival, and a longtime partnership with Sesquisharp Productions and its forward-thinking theatrical creations, including the world premiere of Ryan Keebaugh's DeSceNt inTo mAdnEss.

Mark Wilkinson, who was not only extremely enthusiastic but extremely flexible, looked like an angel that had been stretched -- short he wasn't -- and the ensemble followed his every sinuous move with rapt attention, as did I.
